Financial transformation in Ecuador: Overcoming barriers with technology and education
We empower individuals, micro-businesses, and SMEs with innovative financial tools and practical education to bridge access gaps and foster sustainable economic growth in Ecuador.
Vision
Reduce the financial education gap in Ecuador through technology by providing practical tools to improve financial management for individuals, micro-businesses, and SMEs.
Problem
Lack of understanding of financial concepts such as budgeting, cash flow, etc., limits 97% of the population in Ecuador from accessing essential financial products and services, such as loans, investments, and insurance.
Solution
We offer intuitive tools for managing personal or business finances, along with financial simulators that provide access to financial products such as: loans, savings, and investments. Additionally, we provide financial education and support our users to optimize their finances and ensure their financial success.
Research
Problematic or Pain Points: The main problem we aim to solve is the low financial education among users in Ecuador. This translates into various specific needs and problems:
User Type A
Is about to apply for their first credit, may or may not be banked, lives day-to-day, does not save or invest, and has a very low level of financial education.
User Type B
Has obtained several credits, has a bank account and credit card, and has available funds to invest but does not know where or how to do so, with a low level of financial education.
Analyzing the different contexts of our users, we have focused Qulki's MVP solution on 4 main features:
Budgeting Functionality
Allows you to organize and control your finances. With detailed tracking, you can see how much you have spent, what remains available, and where to make adjustments, helping you make better decisions and achieve your financial goals.
Credit Dashboard
Get insights into the status of your credit with BanEcuador, including an amortization table, the value of the next installment, management of early payments, and more.
Financial Simulators
A simulator that helps identify the investment capacity of a micro, small, or medium-sized enterprise (Mipyme) and provides personalized investment suggestions in the safest and most profitable institutions available in the market.
Financial Education
Gamified teaching of both simple and complex financial concepts; for example, promoting the effective use of resources, savings, avoiding over-indebtedness, and best investment practices.
Prototyping in Low Fidelity
We created low-fidelity prototypes to conduct user tests and validate our hypotheses with real users. This approach allowed us to make adjustments based on their experiences during testing and refine the design accordingly.
High-Fidelity Design
Once the adjustments were made based on the results, we began designing the website in high fidelity to start the site development.
